EGYPT - AVOID TRAVEL NOT ESSENTIAL
We recommend that Canadians avoid non-essential travel to areas that extend up to 50 kilometers from the border with Libya, including the Siwa Oasis, and the desert areas in the western part of Egypt which include the Farafra Oasis, Dakhla and Bawati / Bahariya and the White Desert and desert Black, due to the presence of armed groups. It may be that the ability to provide consular services is limited. Canadians are advised to register with the Registration of Canadians serving abroad. You are responsible for your own safety abroad. If you decide to visit Egypt, we strongly recommend that you plan your trip with a travel agency recognized. Travel agencies in Egypt are well aware of the situation in safety and will develop appropriate routes.
Regional Warning to the Sinai Peninsula (except for Sharm El Sheikh)

Be very careful if you go to Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada and the banks of the Upper Nile from Luxor to Aswan. It's highly recommended to take direct flights to go and leave the area.
